Recycling Collection

The PSSI Curbside Recycling Collection Program Includes:

ALL PAPER, CARDBOARD PACKAGING, AND CORRUGATED CARDBOARD
All paper that tears. Keep it clean and dry.

  • Office paper, catalogs, magazines, junk mail, phone directories, and hardcover/paperback books (Try to donate books before recycling them.)
  • Cardboard and paper boxes (Please flatten and/or cut to fit in the cart loosely with the lid closed. Remember to remove packaging material. Extra flattened cardboard boxes can be placed next to your cart.)
  • Paper bags
  • Cartons (Includes dairy, juice, broth, soup, and milk alternative.)
  • Newspaper (Includes inserts.)

NØ FOOD or FOOD-SOILED PAPER.
NØ WAXED CARDBOARD or PIZZA BOXES.

PLASTIC CONTAINERS
Empty and clean.

  • Bottles, jugs, jars, tubs, and trays
  • CDs and DVDs
  • Cellophane
  • Plastic bags (can also be taken back to the grocery store)
  • Plastic film
  • Plastic wrap (free from food residue)

GLASS
Empty and clean. Separate caps and lids and put in recycling bin.

  • Food and beverage glass containers – bottles and jars

NØ CERAMICS, KITCHENWARE, PYREX, FROSTED GLASS, MIRRORS, or PLATE GLASS.

ALUMINUM & METAL

  • Aluminum cans and foil
  • Scrap metal pieces (up to 30 pounds per item)
  • Food and beverage cans
  • Metal lids and bottle caps

NØ PRESSURIZED TANKS OR AEROSOL CONTAINERS.

PLEASE REMEMBER PROPER SORTING MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

NØ GARBAGE , POLYSTYRENE/STYROFOAM®, DIAPERS, PET WASTE, PERSONAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS, COMPOSTABLES/ORGANICS, DIRT, BRICK, CONCRETE, PRESSURIZED TANKS, NEEDLES/SHARPS, OR HAZARDOUS WASTE.

CONTAMINATION PROCEDURES: If the recycling cart contains any unacceptable items, it will be tagged and will not be collected until the contamination has been removed. Once cleared of contamination, the recycling cart will be emptied on the next collection day.

RECYCLE MORE!

  • Household Batteries: Please place in a 1-gallon or smaller zip-lock style bag and place on top of your recycling cart for collection. One bag per week.
  • Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs (CFLs): Please place in a 1-gallon or smaller zip-lock style bag and place on top of your recycling cart for collection. One bag per week.
  • Latex paint, used motor oil waste, used oil filters, antifreeze: Can be brought to PSSI at 339 Bonair Siding Road.
  • E-WASTE: Electronic items including televisions, computer monitors, printers, CDs, cell phones, wireless devices, and empty printer/toner cartridges can be brought to PSSI at 339 Bonair Siding Road.
  • OTHER ITEMS: Clothing, shoes, books, recyclable containers, and scrap metal can be brought to the PSSI Recycling Drop Off Center at 701 Serra Street.

OCCASIONAL OVERFLOW?

If you have occasional extra material, please place it in a paper bag next to your recycling cart for collection. Contact us if you need a larger recycling cart.
