WHAT IS TREATED WOOD WASTE?
Treated Wood Waste (TWW) comes from old wood that has been treated with chemical preservatives. These chemicals help protect the wood from insect attack and fungal decay while it’s being used. Fence posts, sill plates, landscape timbers, pilings, guardrails, and decking, to name a few, are all examples of chemically treated wood. As of January 1, 2021, Treated Wood Waste (TWW) will be considered hazardous material and must be disposed of as such. For more information about treated wood waste and where to transport it, please click here.

NØ RECYCLABLES , COMPOSTABLES/ORGANICS, DIRT, SOD, BRICK, CONCRETE, HOT ASHES/COALS*, PRESSURIZED TANKS, NEEDLES/SHARPS, OR HAZARDOUS WASTE.

*Hot Ashes/Coals
Properly Dispose of Hot Ash and Coals

  • Place fireplace, stove, and barbecue ashes in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid.
  • Put the container with ashes outside – at least 10 feet away from your home and combustibles.
  • Wet ashes down. COLD ashes must be contained (in a bag or box), so they do not blow away during collection, and placed in your landfill cart.

PLEASE REMEMBER PROPER SORTING MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

Do your part and sort your recycling and compost/organics out of the garbage. It’s the law! California State Law SB1383 requires that all residents must have (and use) recycling and organics collection service.
